We’re pleased to welcome Megan Zietz back again this week as our guest blogger; we love her quick approach to the beloved apple pie! Don’t forget to check out her blog: The Frugalista Diaries
These last few days I’ve been cooped up in the house battling the rain and nursing a cold, so I haven’t been up to making a trip to the grocery store to grab ingredients to whip up a homemade apple pie. So of course, as I was grabbing the crescent rolls from the fridge It dawned on me that I could use them to make bite sized apple pies. Genius! So I grabbed an apple, some brown sugar, cinnamon and melted a little butter and got started. How perfect is this for Summer parties, no need for forks, plus it’s quick and mess free!
Here’s How I Did It…
Apple Pie Bites – Serves 8
1 (Tart) Apple Sliced
3 Heaping Tbsp. Brown Sugar
2 Tbsp. Cinnamon ( I used a homemade Cinni-Sugar Mix)
1 Tbsp. Melted Butter
1 Pkg. Of Immaculate Baking Co. Crescent Rolls
*(I use immaculate baking co. when I’m not doing homemade – no hydrogenated oils and non gmo – it’s the only thing I feel safe about giving my kids when it’s not from scratch)
Preheat Oven to 350˚
1. Roll out the dough on a greased cookie sheet, brush with butter and sprinkle Brown Sugar and Cinnamon in individual pieces of dough.
2. Roll up an apple slice in the dough forming a crescent, brush with melted butter and top with cinnamon. Repeat for others.
3. Bake for 12-15 Mins at 350˚.
4. Remove from Oven, filling will be hot! Serve alone or with a dollop of Vanilla Ice Cream.
What do you make with Crescent Rolls?
I shall have to, being a frugal eater myself, check out her blog – these look great!
Reblogged this on Roel Partybus Post.
I usually make pigs in a blanket with crescent rolls (either using hot dogs or maple sausage links), but this turned out fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
we spread peanut butter on the cresent roll, sprinkle mini chocolate chips on it, roll em up and bake!! mmmmm!
a tasty thing i make with crescent rolls is also the easiest dessert – smear some nutella inside, roll up and bake like usual 🙂
These look amazing! Can’t wait to try them.
Can’t wait to try these!
Looks delicious! These will be my Thanksgiving contribution!

Trying to make it now!
Made these right now. Very simple, very fast and very YUMMY! Thank you for this post!
Just baked these, but had a request, do you have suggestions on making this a sugar free dessert?
splenda does have brown sugar in a bag use it all the time. i use regular splenda and add cinnamon to make my cresent rolls as a sugar free dessert or as a danish with coffee when i have company over. i also use i cant believe its not butter instead of regular butter. my husband and myself are diebetic so there are ways of making these sugar free or almost sugar free!!!!!
substitute splenda, works great
these were great! My son and I loved them! Actually, I pretty much ate all of them 😉 I could’ve added more cinnamon but didn’t want to go overboard on my first try
I love the portion control aspect of this! Great idea!!! 🙂
My sister made these for Thanksgiving…OMG!! Soooo good! I’m actually making them tomorrow.
Found this recipe on Pinterest, sounds delicious….can’t wait to try it!
We roll out the can as one piece then add a mixture of cream cheese and sauaage. roll length wise cut into pinwheels and back at 350 for about 15 min. yummy
Oh MY GOSH I made these the other night just for a snack…THEY are SOOOOO good…. I will be making them all the time, for card nights FOR SURE>>> I give them 10 stars…
i just made them and they were delicious. thanks for the great idea!
Just pulled them out of the oven ! Can’t wait Ro taste them ! One thing I wish I would have done was cut the apples smaller . Maybe using two tubes of crescent rolls ? They look / smell delicious 😋
I’m thinking of making these for our Christmas get together, I may make a confectioners sugar and milk glaze to drizzle on them, to make them pretty and extra sweet. (though I’m sure they don’t need it)
Can’t wait to try these for treats on Christmas Day! Hope everybody likes them!
I made these Christmas Day for family get together and they were absolutely delicious! Thanks for sharin
I make them the same way, only I put 1 cup of butter and 3/4 cup of sugar, bring it to a boil, pour over the rolled up crescent roll with Granny Smith Apples, then pour a can of Sierra Mist over it, then bake it. Wonderful.
This is how I make them too!
I hope you don’t mind that I pinned (Pinterest) and posted about (Sulia) your wonderful guest post. If you’d prefer I take either down please email me and let me know! Wonderful post.
Lovely! Thank you!~
Tried these tonight, perfect size and delicious! Definitely will be a repeat for dessert
I just made these to take to card club tonight. I used apple pie spice in place of the cinnamon and dusted them with powdered sugar after arranging them on the serving plate. Of course, I had to sample one hot out of the oven. They’re fabulous! I will definitely be making these again. So much easier than apple pie.
These look great – going to try tonight with my kiddos! Another quick and easy “dessert” idea that I use ALL OF THE TIME is to spread cream cheese and preserves on the crescent rolls and bake according to the directions. (Note: I cheat and use reduced fat crescents, neufchâtel cheese and natural/no sugar added preserves – my favorite is strawberry rhubarb). AMAZING!
These look great and I will be making them tomorrow – I use bulk sausage and crescent rolls to make sausage rolls
I’m going to take apart Trader Joe’s Cinnamon rolls and add slices of apple – I can hardly wait for Sunday brunch! Thank you!!!!
yum
How were they?
These look so yummy! Do you know if these can be made one evening and baked the next?
indeed!
Made these for a Super Bowl party and they were PERFECT! Everyone loved them and they were insanely easy to make. They were great for my college tight-budget needs and they were quick enough that it took even a novice like me only about 30-40 minutes from start to finish (and I’m really slow in the kitchen!). Thank you for this!
Amazing!!! They are very very good.
You ask what else i make… I mix cream cheese and honey and spread on the crescent ,roll and bake, very easy and good.
Thank you for sharing the apple recipe,so so good!and easy!!!
Great idea!
Cream cheese & honey sounds amazing!
You should totally give it a try, Aunty Kitty!
Super yummy! Only change I would make is to grease the cookie sheet so they don’t stick and use half as much brown sugar and cinnamon.
Rather than greasing the baking pan, I would suggest using parchment paper. That works wonders for all baking needs, especially when something might stick.
Thanks, Cheryl! That’s a great suggestion!
I got to leave early from work today and made these for my husband and toddler. We all loved them! Thanks for sharing! I’m blogging about making them right now (with a link to your pin!). 🙂

For Love of Cupcakes
Sounds YUMMY! Can’t wait to try them but I will bake them in my NuWave oven.
Must try these.I cook cut up chicken breast, peppers and mushroomsand fold into softened creamcheese. Fill crescent rolls, roll up and bake. Yummy. Serve with a salad for lunch or a light supper.
i did a taco ring with crescent rolls, it was so good
Look forward to more of varies something new. Wanna try something else n something different too
Made these tonight and alls I can say is Yummy …nice to be able to make an easy and quick dessert…thank you for the recipe!
Hi! Thank you for the recipe! I live on campus in a dorm with 9 other girls and I can’t wait to make it for them for a de-stresser for finals! Thank you!!
Will definitely try! One thing about crescents, besides being quick & easy, is they can be sweet or savory! Our top 3 (we like crescents!)- Breakfast Rolls: cooked scrambled eggs w/ ham & a little cheese, fill crescents, bake as norm…great for breakfast on the go, espec. with the older kids who don’t want to sit & eat before school! Pizza Rolls: fry ground beef or use chopped pepperoni, pizza sauce & mozzarella cheese, mix ingred. & let cool, spoon onto crescents, roll up, bake 15-20mins until golden…these go so fast I sometimes cut the crescents longways and get 16 to a can! And lastly, the easiest: spread w/ Nutella and bake as directed- YUM! Thanks again for the Lil’ Apple Pies, can’t wait to try! ~Linda
Just put these in the oven. I think next time. I won’t mix the cinnamon and brown sugar together. Seemed like a lot of cinnamon. I will let you know how they go over. I make Crescent dogs with crescent rolls. I sometimes use cheese dogs, or even brats.
I tired this and they turned out good but if I did it again I would heat up the apples prior to baking them to soften the apples. They were not cooked enough I thought but other then that they are tasty!
I’m impressed, I must say. Seldom do I encounter a blog that’s both equally educative and entertaining, and without a doubt, you’ve hit the nail on the head. The problem is an issue that not enough men and women are speaking intelligently about. Now i’m very happy that I came across this in my hunt for something regarding this.
I put chocolate chips in mine there are many other kinds of chips you can use when they are still warm they taste like a warm cookie. Also you could put powdered sugar on top too.
I spread a raspberry jam on the roll and bake, then drizzle with white glaze frosting….also I’ve been know to fill the roll with milk chocolate chips and glaze with chocolate..
I have a friend who’s on a diet, are these really that bad a far as calories? They are so yummy!!
Hmmm Kristen, maybe make it a half-a-bite-size apple pie just in case?
These taste really good, so what do you think? 🙂
i love these just took out of oven now and my house smells like i made a whole pie ps i also make
mummy-dogs wrap a hot dog like a mummy for Halloween or as in my family a one a week thing for a fast dinner idea
Yay, Christine! We really love this no-fuss recipe, too!
How are these next morning? Would love to make tonight to take to church in the AM but unsure how they will look/taste next day! Thanks for the help…look delicious! 😉
Hmmm, they should be fine once you heat them up again!
I just made these. I thought 2 tablespoons of cinnamon seemed like way too much for 3 Tablespoons of brown sugar, so I used one Tablespoon. Did you mean to say 2 teaspoons?
Our blogger shared this recipe with us, and we’re thinking that she probably is a bigger cinnamon fan 🙂 But love it that your customizing it to your preference!
I’m totally making these for my grandmothers Halloween party this weekend! Thanks for the idea!!
I roll fresh blueberries in crescent rolls, bake, then sprinkle with powdered sugar….delish!! These are awesome too….making another batch now!!
I also roll marshmallows in crescent rolls before baking sometimes alone, sometimes with chocolate chips…so good with coffee!!
Ooooh yes, S’mores Roll-Up are definitely one of our favs, too!
P.S. Just made them again but this time I peeled the apples and cooked them with butter, brown sugar, and apple pie spice to make the apples nice and soft….then sprinkled with powdered sugar…mmmm mmmm!!
Yum!
I just tried these. very easy to make. i dont think i put enough cinnamon and sugar (as i just winged it). I think i might add some sharp cheddar cheese, and the apple pie spice sounds like a good add.
Cheddar cheese + apple + cinnamon? Hmmm you’re quite the adventurous foodie!
Just made this evening for company-they raved about it 🙂 So easy and tasty. I also made caramel sauce to drizzle over it-YUM!
How do you think these would freeze? Prepped.. but not baked yet. Thinking of making these ahead of time before the Thanksgiving rush so all I’ll have to do is stick them in the oven.
Hmmm good question. I’ve never freezed prepped recipes ahead of time, so I’m not quite sure of the results. But I’d imagine that the oven should take care of it all! Please let us know how it turns out!
I just made these. omg they are heaven . even the husband approved. Would they cook they same if I took the skin off. (husbands request.)
Yay! Hmmm it should be perfectly fine taking off the skin! Just give it a try!
I did make them for Thanksgiving and they did wonderful freezing. They were a big hit! But a bit runny due to me using a shortcut. I used a can of fried apples, so the “juice” from them ran into the pan. Thanks for a great recipe!
I made these tonight, for Thanksgiving tomorrow, I was wondering if anyone has re heated them or ate them cold? Also should they be stored in the refrigerator or are they okay left at room temp?
Hey Codi! Sorry for the late response! Hopefully you’ve figured out a good solution! It should be fine left overnight in room temp just for one night since there really isn’t any dairy in it! But hopefully you had a great and yummy-licious holiday!
How many does this recipe make? I need about 20 for a christmas get together.
Hey Kati! There are 8 rolls in a can of our crescent dough, so you’re going to need at least 3 cans! Sounds like you’ll be having an extra “Immaculate” Christmas get together this year 🙂
I added little bits of candied ginger- and used Splenda brown sugar to lower the sugar quotient- they came lit great
I just made these for breakfast for myself and my children. I cooked them for the minimum recommended time, letting the sugar mixture on top deceive me into they were more done. I should have left them in the max time, but they were still very good. I made icing (like for cinnamon rolls) and drizzled that over the top. Delicious.
In the future, I think I’ll chop the apple up and mix it all in with the sugar mixture for more even cooking and softer apple.
Hey Lara! Glad that it turned out great!
Sounds yummy and easy. My kind of snack. Do have a bit pf sweet tooth.
Haha! Dont’ we all 🙂
I have used peaches & it was delicious!! You can really use any fruit that would work in a pie.
Hmmmmmmm Jean you’re making us hungry!
